This year’s NATS Ontario Vocal Showcase was held at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Arts at Queen’s University, and though Laurier numbers were small, the Barber Studio was well represented, and our singers came up big in prizes! Soprano Elaine Glinos won 1st prize among 3rd year University classical singers, with exchange student from Conservatoire de Lyon, baritone Sibyl Bonnardel coming in 2nd. Xander Bechard, already a veteran of previous NATS Showcases (and winning 1st in both classical and music theatre categories in their last outing in 2029), won their Advanced Adult Music Theatre class, and brought the house down at the final concert with a rendition of “She cries”. Congratulations to all the singers, as well as those from Jennie Such and Amanda Brunk’s studios at Laurier, who also walked away with prizes!
